Let’s Talk About Sperm Count, Health and Infertility

By  | Sassy Wifestyle
This is a sponsored conversation from Mums the Word Network and The Stork OTC. All opinions are my own.

Let’s be honest, most families at one point or another will want to grow their family. To have a little bundle of joy running around and giving them tiny kisses and warm little hugs. There’s just something about having kids that complete the circle of life. Then there are those who are faced with challenges getting to that point … which in all honesty is very heartbreaking.

Infertility isn’t a light topic to discuss and most of the time, couples who are experiencing such prefer not to talk or even discuss the matter. My hubby and I were one of those couples at one point in our lives. We dated for a couple of years, then got married and yet no luck. It felt so frustrating to go through such situation. It’s like fate is playing some kind of game. It felt unfair. Having kids shouldn’t be this challenging. Finally, we’ve started researching our options.

What we discovered is that conceiving isn’t as simple as being intimate or timing it with a woman’s monthly cycle. In fact, men’s sperm count and health play a huge role too! Here are a few fun facts to share with your partner …

1. A healthy weight means healthier sperm!
2. Those who exercise at least 7 hours a week have 48% higher sperm count.
3. Placing your laptop on your lap affects sperm motility.
4. Men who are 45 or older take five times longer to conceive.
5. Sperm needs to remain 1-2 degrees cooler than his body temperature to stay healthy.
6. Regular or heavy alcohol consumption affects sperm count.
7. Folic acid isn’t just for women! It’s recommended for men to have 400mg.
8. It takes 3 months to create a healthy sperm. Time to kick off the bad habit!
9. Certain medication (even OTC) can impact sperm production.
10. While it only takes one, sperm count does matter.

As soon as we started discussing infertility with our doctor, we were immediately given the idea of IUI and IVF. Two different methods but both promises to help us get one step closer to having a little one in our hands. Then we were faced with the steps, process and a life-changing expense. If you’ve researched about IVF, you’d know how absurd the procedure cost is. As far as studies go according to clinical data the Stork OTC is comparable to the success rates of IUI procedures. That’s where Stork OTC comes to help. They actually understand that trying to get pregnant is already challenging enough.

I’ve never heard of this. Luckily my husband and I never had a problem conceiving but this is great for those that need to make sure they have a good number of swimmers.

Thankfully, my husband and I were able to get pregnant very quickly and easily with both of our children. We actually have a friend though who found out he has a low/no sperm count, but hasn’t gone back to the doctor to figure it out! I will say, he is rather overweight and thinks that is a lot of the problem.

I’m intrigued by this product but how does it help you? I am glad there are more and more options for those struggling to get pregnant. I was one of those who had to do the shots. Ouch, but it worked!

As someone who struggled with secondary infertility it is so heartening to see companies creating products to help couples get pregnant. I am definitely going to share this post with friends who are in the trying to get pregnant phase!

This product is awesome. I actually have one in my bathroom under the counter. I got it before my last baby was conceived just in case as I had just had two back to back miscarriages!

I am not having kids but I still find the information interesting regarding it. The ways sperm can be affected is so interesting. I would not have thought some of those made a difference!

This is such a great product! I have some friends that have used it when they were having trouble and it was well worth the money spent.

This is a great option for those who do not have great insurance because the cost of fertility doctors ad procedures are very expensive. Happy to hear you were able to find something that worked for your beginning family.

This is certainly helpful for any couple trying to conceive. We have many friends who went through IVF, or tried other methods to conceive. In one couple’s case once they stopped the treatments and relaxed they got pregnant! It’s amazing how the Universe works sometimes. From what they’ve told us, it can be very frustrating when you are trying so hard and want a baby so badly but nothing seems to be working. So glad there are ever more options out there.

I am thankful I am past this stage of life but now my children are entering it. Both my two oldest got married last fall. My daughter and her hubby will start trying for kids in October. Thankfully, they are both very active and healthy. I hope they don’t need any assistance in this department but thankful it is there if they do.

It’s really important that you take good care of your body especially if you’re trying to have a baby. These are very good tips. Not a lot of women talk about it, but it’s good to have a post like this to help each other out.

This is a great article for me to read at the moment, being a year into our TTC journey. There are so many important factors that play a part in getting pregnant, and I feel it has been one of the most difficult and upsetting times of my life. Its great that there are products like this available to us to help to become pregnant.

I didn’t know about this product. It took a long time, and some medical help, to get pregnant with our first daughter. There was a miscarriage in between but six years later we had our second daughter. This should not be a quiet topic because so many families have this struggle.

I had no idea you could find infertility products at your local drugstore. It’s nice to know it is an option. Struggling with infertility can be so hard for couples who long to have children so anything that can help them achieve their dream is a blessing.
